At the time of death: pray Saint Joseph, ardently.
Saint Joseph, “Patron Saint of good death”, is known for accompanying people at death’s doors and granting them peace. We indeed define good death by the absence of struggle. However, this absence comes with the competency of the largest detachment, which requires a whole life of preparation. To give up any claim on one’s own life, including that of maintaining it by oneself, cannot be improvised. By hoping for the gift of God, let us surrender. Then let us consider which paradoxical death was that of saint Joseph : not only did he leave Marie, but Jesus too. Saint Joseph, through his death, reveals the essence of spiritual life: to give up on God to find God, by the gift of oneself.
At any time of life: pray Saint Joseph, ardently.
